An Act To Amend Section 99-51-3, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Comply With Requirements To Receive Federal Stop Grant Funds; To Provide That A Victim Of Sexual Assault Shall Have The Right To Be Informed In Writing Of Policies Governing The Collection And Preservation Of A Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit; To Provide That A Victim Of Sexual Assault Shall Have The Right To Be Informed Of The Rights Granted To The Victim Under Section 99-51-3(3); To Extend The Period Of Time For Written Notification To A Victim Of Sexual Assault Of A Law Enforcement Agency's Intent To Destroy Or Dispose Of The Sexual Assault Evidence Kit Or Any Other Crime Scene Evidence From An Unsolved Sexual Assault Case; To Require Licensed Hospitals That Operate An Emergency Department To Have At Least One Physician, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant Or Registered Nurse Who Is Available At All Times And Who Is Able To Conduct Forensic Examinations Of Victims Of Sexual Assault And Prepare Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kits For Those Victims; To Require Licensed Hospitals To Screen, Treat Or Examine Victims Of Sexual Assault Who Present To A Hospital; To Require Licensed Hospitals To Maintain A Sufficient Supply Of Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kits For Use When Conducting Forensic Examinations Of Victims Of Sexual Assault; To Authorize Licensed Hospitals To Contract With Forensic Nurses To Conduct Forensic Examinations Of Victims Of Sexual Assault And Prepare Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kits For The Hospital; And For Related Purposes.

A Concurrent Resolution Proposing An Amendment To Section 241, Mississippi Constitution Of 1890, To Provide That A Person Who Is Otherwise A Qualified Elector And Has Been Convicted Of A Felony Shall Have His Or Her Right To Vote Suspended Upon Conviction And Shall Not Have His Or Her Right To Vote Restored Until He Or She Has Satisfied All Of The Sentencing Requirements Of The Conviction; And Proposing The Repeal Of Section 253, Mississippi Constitution Of 1890, Which Provides That The Legislature May, By A Two-thirds Vote Of Both Houses, Of All Members Elected, Restore The Right Of Suffrage To Any Person Disqualified By Reason Of Crime.

An Act To Be Known As The Mississippi State Employees Paid Parental Leave Act; To Provide For Six Weeks Of Paid Parental Leave For Eligible State Employees Who Are The Primary Caregivers Of A Child, To Be Used To Care For The Child After The Birth Or Adoption Of The Child; To Define "eligible Employee," "paid Parental Leave" And "primary Caregiver" For The Purpose Of This Act; To Provide That The Employee Shall Be Compensated At 100% Of The Employee's Regular Salary While Taking The Paid Parental Leave; To Provide That The Paid Parental Leave Must Be Taken Within Twelve Weeks Of The Birth Or Adoption Of The Child; To Provide That Paid Parental Leave May Be Taken Only Once In A Period Of Twelve Months; To Provide That The Paid Parental Leave Provided Under This Act Shall Be In Addition To Other Leave Benefits Available To State Employees By State Or Federal Law And Shall Not Be Counted Against Accrued Personal Leave Or Major Medical Leave; To Provide That The Paid Parental Leave Shall Run Concurrently With Any Leave Provided To An Eligible Employee Under The Federal Family And Medical Leave Act (fmla) Where Applicable; To Provide That The Paid Parental Leave Shall Not Be Accrued Or Carried Over Or Used For Retirement Purposes And Is Not Payable Upon Separation From State Service; To Require An Eligible Employee Requesting The Paid Parental Leave To Give Notice At Least Thirty Calendar Days Before The Anticipated Leave Start Date Where Foreseeable; To Provide That If Advance Notice Of Thirty Days Is Not Possible Due To Exigent Circumstances, The Employee Shall Provide Notice At The Earliest Available Opportunity; To Amend Section 25-3-93, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Conform To The Preceding Provisions; To Amend Section 25-3-95, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Conform To The Preceding Provisions; To Provide That After Using The Paid Parental Leave Authorized Under This Act, An Employee May Use Up To Six Weeks Of Earned Major Medical Leave For The Birth Of The Employee's Child; To Authorize Public School Districts And Community And Junior College Districts To Adopt A Policy, In Addition To Any Other Leave Policies Of The District, To Provide For Paid Parental Leave For Employees Of The District That Includes The Same Or Substantially The Same Provisions As Those Of This Act; And For Related Purposes.
