An Act To Create "the Mississippi Law Enforcement Interaction Course Act"; To Require The State Board Of Education, The Mississippi Department Of Public Safety, The Mississippi Sheriffs' Association, The Mississippi Police Benevolent Association And The Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission To Enter Into A Memorandum Of Understanding That Establishes Each Agency's Respective Responsibilities In Developing Instruction, Including Curriculum And Instructional Modules, On Proper Interaction With Law Enforcement Officers During Traffic Stops And Other In-person Encounters; To Require That School Districts Or Charter Schools Provide Instruction In One Or More Courses To Students In Grade 9 Through Grade 12 On Proper Interaction With Law Enforcement Officers During Traffic Stops And Other In-person Encounters, At Least Once Before Graduation; To Prescribe The Minimum Components Of Curriculum And Instruction Required For The Course; To Permit School Districts Or Charter Schools To Tailor The Instruction Developed Under This Section As Appropriate For The District's Or Charter School's Community; To Provide That The Course Shall Be Offered To Students In Grade 9 Beginning With The 2025-2026 School Year; And For Related Purposes.

An Act To Amend Section 31-7-13, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Revise The Public Purchasing Law To Exempt Purchases Made By The Department Of Finance And Administration For The Renovation, Repair, Restoration Or Improvements To The State Capitol Building And Grounds Or Any Other Historical Buildings Or Sites Under The General Supervision And Care Of The Department That Are Dually Designated As Both A National Historic Landmark And A Mississippi Landmark; To Provide That This Exemption Shall Repeal On June 30, 2028; To Amend Section 27-104-7, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That Purchases Made By The Department Of Finance And Administration For The Renovation, Repair, Restoration Or Improvements To The State Capitol Building And Grounds Or Any Other Historical Buildings Or Sites Under The General Supervision And Care Of The Department That Are Dually Designated As Both A National Historic Landmark And A Mississippi Landmark Shall Be Exempt From Review And Approval By The Public Procurement Review Board; To Provide That This Exemption Shall Repeal On June 30, 2028; And For Related Purposes.

An Act To Amend Section 25-11-105, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That A Member Of The Public Employees' Retirement System Shall Be Terminated From Membership In The System If The Member Is Convicted Of Or Pleads Guilty Or Nolo Contendere To A Felony That Is Related To Or In Connection With The Member's Employment In The State Service And Which Is Committed On Or After July 1, 2025; To Amend Section 25-11-111, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That A Member Who Is Charged With Such Crime Who Retires And Receives A Retirement Allowance After Being Charged With The Crime Shall Continue To Receive The Retirement Allowance Until Such Time As The Member Is Convicted Of Or Pleads Guilty Or Nolo Contendere To The Crime, At Which Time The Member's Retirement Allowance Shall Be Terminated; To Amend Section 25-11-117, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide For The Refund Without Interest Of The Accumulated Contributions Of A Member Who Is Convicted Of Such Crime; To Amend Sections 25-15-3 And 25-15-13, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That An Active Member Of The System Who Is Participating In The State And School Employees Life And Health Insurance Plan, And Who Otherwise Would Be Eligible To Receive A Retirement Allowance But Is Terminated From Membership In The System Because Of The Member's Conviction Of Or Plea Of Guilty Or Nolo Contendere To Such Crime, Is Eligible To Continue To Participate In The Plan Under The Same Conditions And Coverages For Retired Employees; And For Related Purposes.

An Act To Amend Section 25-11-127, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Authorize Retired Members Of The Public Employees' Retirement System To Be Employed In A Position For Which The Employer Has A Critical Need For Or Shortage Of Employees And Draw The Full Amount Of The Retiree's Retirement Allowance, During Which Time The Retiree May Work The Full Number Of Normal Working Days For The Position And Receive The Full Amount Of The Salary In Effect For The Position At The Time Of Employment; To Provide That Before A Retiree May Be Employed In Such A Position, The Employer Must Provide Satisfactory Evidence With Quantifiable Numbers To The Retirement System Of The Existence Of A Critical Need For Or Shortage Of Employees In The Employer's Agency, Department, Institution Or Political Subdivision, And Satisfactory Evidence That The Employee Has The Education And Experience Necessary For The Position For Which There Is A Critical Need Or Shortage And In Which He Or She Will Be Employed; And For Related Purposes.
