An Act To Be Known As The Mississippi Genetic Counselor Practice Act; To Provide For The Licensure And Regulation Of Genetic Counselors By The State Board Of Health; To Define Certain Terms And Define The Scope Of Practice Of Genetic Counseling; To Provide That From And After January 1, 2025, A License Issued Under This Act Is Required To Engage In The Practice Of Genetic Counseling; To Prohibit Persons From Holding Themselves Out As Genetic Counselors Unless They Are Licensed In Accordance With This Act; To Prescribe The Minimum Qualifications For Genetic Counseling Licensure; To Provide For Reciprocal Licensure For Persons Who Are Licensed Or Registered As A Genetic Counselor Under The Laws Of Another State; To Authorize The Board To Grant Provisional Genetic Counselor Licenses For Persons Who Have Been Granted Active Candidate Status; To Prescribe Continuing Education Requirements For Licensees; To Provide Exemptions From Licensure For Certain Persons; To Create The Mississippi Council Of Advisors In Genetic Counseling To Advise The Board And Department On Matters Relating To The Administration And Interpretation Of The Provisions Of This Act; To Prescribe The Powers And Duties Of The Board In Administering The Provisions Of This Act; To Authorize The Board To Deny, Suspend Or Revoke Licenses For Certain Conduct; To Authorize The Board To Receive And Process Complaints And Investigate Allegations Or Practices Violating The Provisions Of This Act; To Authorize The Board To Seek Injunctive Relief To Prohibit Persons From Providing Services As A Genetic Counselor Without Being Licensed Under This Act; To Provide Criminal Penalties For Violations Of This Act; And For Related Purposes.

An Act To Require School Boards And Charter Schools To Support, Adopt And Implement A Cardiac Emergency Response Plan That Addresses The Appropriate Use Of School Personnel To Respond To Incidents Involving An Individual Experiencing Sudden Cardiac Arrest Or A Life-threatening Emergency While On School Grounds Or At An Athletic Event; To Require Schools To Work Directly With Local Emergency Service Providers; To Ensure Schools Train Staff In First-aid, Cpr And Aed Use; To Amend Section 73-25-37, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That School Districts, School District Employees Or Agents Acting In Good Faith Who Provide Assistance Or Services Under This Act Shall Be Immune From Civil Prosecution; To Amend Section 41-60-33, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Exempt School District Personnel From Certain Prerequisites That A Mississippi Licensed Physician Must Exercise Medical Control Authority Over The Person Using An Aed; And For Related Purposes.

An Act To Establish The Mississippi Modified School Calendar Grant Program To Be Administered By The Department Of Education For The Purpose Of Incentivizing Public School Districts To Maintain Or Consider Adopting A Modified School Calendar By Offsetting Costs Associated With Adopting A Modified School Calendar Through A Time-limited Grant; To Require The Department To Develop Regulations And Procedures To Govern The Administration Of The Grant Program, Including Application Requirements; To Provide For The Eligibility Criteria; To Provide That Grants Awarded Shall Be Used For Expenses Incurred As A Result Of The Adoption Of A Modified School Calendar; To Provide That School Districts Shall Be Eligible For A Maximum Award Of $250,000.00 Per Year For A Maximum Of Three Years; To Create A Special Fund In The State Treasury, To Be Known As The "mississippi Modified School Calendar Grant Fund"; To Require The Department To Provide A Comprehensive Report On The Use Of Funds Distributed Under This Grant Program To The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker Of The House Of Representatives, And Chairs Of The Senate And House Appropriations And Education Committees By October 1, 2024, And October 1 Of Each Year Thereafter; And For Related Purposes.
